CALMMOON RAIL

Calmmoon Rail technology

The Calmmoon Rail web noise protection system comprises extra long-life, thin steel sheeting as a support element, polyethylene sound-suppressing material bonded to this, fixings and self-securing screw connections.

How it works

The key technology of this system is Calmmoon itself. The Calmmoon molecular structure transforms the incident vibratory energy into thermal energy through friction. Together with the sound absorbing polyethylene, this produces the most effective combination for an optimum reduction of noise radiated from the rail web caused by rail vehicles.

Calmmoon Rail system unit

A system unit of Calmmoon Rail for damping a rail consists of two elements which are attached with sound suppressing elements on the left and right of the rail web as well as underneath the rail. These two elements form a sort of triangle around the rail and are secured by two steel securing clips on each rail compartment and rail. Each securing clip consists of two steel elements which are ideally matched to the dampener shape, and a screw connection with one self-locking aircraft industry screw.

The dimensions and form of Calmmoon Rail are defined by the rail profile that is to be dampened, the length of the rail compartment, the type of sleeper and the rail fastening used. As a result, optimum adaptation to the particular local conditions of the track is achieved with damping the maximum area of rail web.

The Calmmoon Rail system weighs approx. 4 kg per linear metre of track.
